Managing land for wildlife requires a balance of light-touch conservation and targeted habitat restoration. Surrounded by significant Shropshire Wildlife Trust reserves, our farm serves as a vital ecological corridor in the Clun catchment.
By introducing European beavers to our organic land, we have allowed natural hydrology to take the lead in reserve management.
The resulting wetland complex manages water flow naturally, filters agricultural runoff, and creates micro-habitats that support rare flora, aquatic invertebrates, and red-list bird species across the valley.
