Building The Beaver Enclosure

Before welcoming our beavers to Brynmawr Farm, constructing a secure enclosure was essential to meet regulatory standards and safeguard both the animals and neighboring farmland.

Trevor undertook the heavy engineering required to enclose a large valley section, installing specialized subterranean mesh fencing, reinforced water gates across streams, and animal-safe access points.

The resulting enclosure gives the beaver family freedom to reshape tens of acres of stream habitat while remaining within a monitored zone.

Construction Details:

• Heavy-duty perimeter fencing buried deep to prevent burrowing underneath
• Dynamic water-gate systems designed to handle high stream flow without breaching
• Designed to encompass diverse terrain: deep stream bed, marshland, and woodland slopes
• Integrated viewing ports and photography hide built directly into the perimeter boundary
• Minimal impact construction techniques used to preserve existing trees and ground flora
